What is Really Behind Addiction!
An addiction simply means a habit or practice that damages, jeopardizes or shortens one’s life but when ceased causes trauma.
It is a mood altering experience that runs over a period of time
causing pathological changes that has life threatening and life damaging
consequences.
It also shows up as the person who is physically or
psychologically dependent on something consumed orally, nasally, intravenously
that could cause harm and trauma in the long run and when stopped suddenly.
Ever notice how frequently the word “addict” is used? Just do a
Google News search on the word and you’ll be shocked at just how often it’s
used in a headline.
Articles are plastered with mentions of drug addicts, sex
addicts, and gambling addicts, food addicts, shopping addicts, work addicts and
internet addicts.
“These people” are painted as out-of-control and often menaces
to society who need to be stopped, jailed, medicated or otherwise cut off.
But what if those diseased people weren’t sick at all?
What if you suddenly realized you were one of them?
What if those diseased people
weren’t sick at all?
What
if nothing out of the ordinary is actually responsible for this but rather it’s
all happening from deep within the person and has to do with the emotional and
mental states.
Who Is An Addict!
An
addict is a person who is addicted to the source of the addictions and it could
be any of the following:
1. Alcohol
2. Tobacco
3. Harmful
drugs
4. Toxic
Substances
5. Negative
Thoughts
6. Negative
Emotions
It
is a common occurrence to see some people when they are faced with life’s usual
challenges and problems to turn to the sources of addiction listed above as a
means to escape the situation or circumstance.
They
think when they consume these toxic substances they can readily escape their
problems and by some stroke of luck, it will have vanished or be over when they
get back to their normal senses.
They
refuse to deal with their challenges or too afraid to look deeper into how and
why such is happening in their lives.
Rather
like the ostrich, they would rather bury their head in the sand than face the
challenge and work through it.
Take Responsibility For Your Life!
Their
refusal to take responsibility for the challenge that has presented itself will
drive them into these situations that are not necessary if they will but only
take a moment to do the following:
1. Pause
2. Step
back
3. Take
a deep breath
4. Look
at the situation critically
5. Understand
what it means
6. Find
out why it has happened
7. Look
deeper for the lesson inherent
8. Understand
that all situations no matter how terrible, will one day pass away.
9. Determine
your role in the situation
Life
is filled with problems and challenges and everyone has their own problems and
challenges, which is unique to them and life will always present problems and
challenges whether you like it or life.
To
move on especially in view of your current challenges and situations, means you
have to first and foremost accept responsibility for the problems and look
deeper to solving it.
Understand
that most problems and challenges are only life’s lessons to show where you are
either erring or have erred and all you need to do is correct the habit which
is usually as a result of your thinking pattern.
Stop Negative Thinking Pattern!
Negative
thinking habits and feelings when the thoughts are growing and getting deeper
and deeper as you become so enmeshed in it and have created a life character,
create this addiction because you have seeded control of your life over to the
mind.
Remember
that the mind loves status quo and doesn’t like to move away from the familiar
to the unfamiliar or change, it would fight to remain in this throes of
negativity that it is in.
Most
times the mind would deceive you with the premise that it’s for your own good
or that it is protecting you which is all cock and bull story.
It
will only keep you trapped in that state or condition and worse still keep you
going down and further down the rabbit hole of illusion and chaos until you are
so lost or trapped that you don’t see a way out.
That
may even bring you to the level of even greater negativity that could bring on
deeper sinking into the pit of illusion and being buried in it and eventually
seeking death as the way out of this abysmal depth because you don’t want to
face what’s right in front of you.
You
don’t want to correct an error you made or have made that has caused problems
for you, maybe because it’s embarrassing or shameful and you cannot bear to
face such and be put through such harrowing experience.
Let
me point something out to you – what if it’s just the mind giving you the false
premise or narration that it’s embarrassing or disgraceful and you will be put
to shame.
What
if when you eventually decided to brace yourself and bravely face the
situation, it turned out differently and the situation worked out simply and so
well that you are astounded. Everyone understood the situation and saw it for
what it was exactly and held no grudge against you at all.
They
knew why it happened and for the fact that you could bravely face it, they
supported you every step of the way with their love and goodwill and what you
thought was an uphill was eventually a piece of cake.
Can You See The Play Of The Mind In The
Drama!
You
decided you weren’t brave enough to face it, work through it and conquer it and
like the ostrich above, you hid your head in the sand and buried yourself
refusing to take responsibility and giving control over to the mind.
The
mind takes over and starts its own narrative of ever increasing and worrisome
images of what could happen and this makes you sink deeper and deeper into
despair and unhappiness.
As
these thoughts increase and the emotions rise, your body starts to decline in
health and vigor as the adrenals are over worked and the endocrine and immune
systems starts to shut down.
The
cells are starved and also start giving up and at this point you may be
hospitalized, except you take over responsibility of your life from the mind,
you are signing your own death warrant as death at this point isn’t far away.
But
if you can consciously take back control of your life from the mind or allow
experts like myself and a host of others to come to your aid, then you
gradually heal and get back your health and vitality and recreate your life.
But
you must be willing to do the hard work involved because at the core of healing
is the truth that all true healing is self-healing.
I
would love to hear from you or your thoughts on this post, please drop us a
line.
In closing,
i believe the wisdom below will serve you in life:
“Thank
you God, for this beautiful day today. Help me to always see your love
reflected in each and every moment, no matter how challenging life may be.
Remind me to always look to my heart for the LESSONS and BLESSINGS in life”.

These
words of Inspirations from the enlightened ones will serve you even more:
“I
wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light
of your own being”.
Hafiz
“Within
you is the light of a thousand suns, within you is unimaginable beauty”.
Robert
Adam
“Don’t
you know it yet, it is your light that illuminates the worlds”.
Rumi
“I
am the light of the world. You are the light of the world”.
Jesus
“Your
heart is the light of the world, don’t cover it with your mind”.
Mooji
Taking
responsibility and recognizing that we cause all of our core issues is not a
reality for most people.
Taking
responsibility to see life differently without justification, judgement and
blame, rejection or anxiety, fear or anger would really help you in the long
run.
Every
condition, disease or disorder is a spiritual condition that has come up for
review and to be dealt with and taken care of. Once the lesson is truly learnt
and absorbed, the conditions or situation reverses itself and clears out and
that’s when we say a healing has occurred and a miracle has happened.
Every
problem preludes a negative thought and mindset so watch your thoughts and
emotions carefully and guard them jealously.
Nothing
can stop you if you have the courage, commitment and the discipline to move
through your limitations.
‘Let
yourself be drawn by the stronger pull of that which you truly love’
The
purpose of life is to discover who you really are, know and create yourself and
experience yourself as who you really are (not the body that houses you) as a
part of the divine source to give and receive love and serve all creatures of
the divine.
As
long as you don’t or you refuse to see yourself as a victim then life becomes a
challenge that you can overcome with commitment and consistent work and it will
pay you back handsomely.
A
lesson you avoided in a past life will be forwarded to the current life until
you get the lesson right or understood the reason for it. Each time the lesson
is more intense, than the last experience until you recognize it.
This
is an interactive universe where we all work together in each other’s lessons
and life whether we want it or not or whether we are aware of it or not.
Our
fears always surface when we least expect it and when it does, its better to
face the lesson and conquer it.
You
can take back control of your life and drive it the way you would rather want
it to be and have things and have things the way you want it to be.
It
takes taking responsibility for all the wrongs that have happened in your life
because whether you agree or not, you are held responsible for all your:
1. THOUGHTS
2. WORDS
3. ACTION
Nobody
wants to listen to your cry of wolf or denial or victim mentality and it won’t
take you far except you sit still, take stock of your life and determine and
desire to turn it around and that’s where and when the answers or solutions
come in.
If
and when you are now truly ready to take back control and look out for the
patterns and lessons in your life to understand the mind aberrations that are
causing your problems and have taken control of your life.
That’s
when the creative centers open within and you can finally have the tools to
help you change the course of your life and manifest your destiny.
To succeed
in life, you must refuse to see yourself as a loser no matter what the
prevailing situation or condition might be and you evaluate what you can do to
succeed.
The
most important qualities are self-esteem, self-worth and self-confidence and
that you understand that you are entitled to abundance in your life.
You
can do anything you want to and be anything you want to, provided you believe
that it is possible.
Victims
do not hold that belief!
So
ask yourself – are you a victim?
